The season balances the classic nostalgia of Meredith Willson’s The Music Man with the Jazz-age tribute The Drowsy Chaperone. Fall 2010 - The Music Man Book, Music and Lyrics by MEREDITH WILLSON Based on a story by MEREDITH WILLSON and FRANKLIN LACEY Produced by special arrangement with Music Theatre International. Directed by: Dennis Murphy Produced by: Julie Beelman Musical Direction by Charlie Wilhelm Vocal Direction by Sarah Mizelle Choreography by Tony Springs Auditions July 19 and 21, 2010, 7:00 p.m., Clifton United Methodist Church Auditions by appointment: email CMTjulie@yahoo.com or call 513-221-5119 Prepare 16-32 bars of a classic Broadway song. Readings will be from the script. Wear comfortable clothing for a dance audition. Performances at the Jarson-Kaplan Theatre, Aronoff Center for the Arts, November 12-20, 2010. Spring 2011 - The Drowsy Chaperone Music and Lyrics by LISA LAMBERT and GREG MORRISON Book by BOB MARTIN and DON MCKELLAR. Produced by special arrangement with Music Theatre International. This “Musical within a Comedy” pokes fun at theatre and theatre goers. The show takes us back to the era of 1920’s Jazz through the eyes of a die-hard musical theatre lover who upon playing his soundtrack of the 1928 hit musical The Drowsy Chaperone brings the show and it’s cast back to life. This zany Broadway sendup won five Tony Awards including Best Book and Best Score. CityBeat critic Rick Pender said it best, “Every time you think Chaperone couldn’t get any loonier, it does. And that’s the fun of it.” Directed by Skip Fenker Produced by Kathy Beiting Performances at the Jarson-Kaplan Theatre of the Aronoff Performing Arts Center, May 6-14, 2011.
